Description

340: Europe in the Twentieth Century
Goal: To enhance understanding of the social, economic, and political forces that shaped Europe during the period between the beginning of World War I and present.
Content: Examines World War I and its influences upon European civilization, the tumultuous ?Age of Extremes? of the interwar era, the catastrophic effects of World War II and the Holocaust, the division of Europe during the Cold War, and the effects of European reunification and integration since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Taught: Fall. Alternate years.
Credit: 3 hours.
