EDU 534: Advanced Pedagogy and Content for Early Childhood Mathematics (4 hours)
Hybrid course. This course conducts an in-depth study of various theories and models of teaching mathematics in the early childhood setting. Early childhood teachers draw from their broad understanding of mathematics as they plan and implement integrative activities. The course includes the content, concepts, and skills of the early grades mathematic curriculum and the special methods of teaching the material. Materials appropriate to teaching mathematics are explored, including manipulative and teachermade materials. Students become familiar with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards.
Prerequisites: Admission to M.Ed. program.
