Description
325: Film Criticism.
Goal: To appreciate film as a visual record containing information relative to the appearance, lifestyles, and attitudes of different cultures; to understand the consequences that follow from identifying with or rejecting the discourses presented in a given film.
Content: Discussion and application of a variety of approaches to contemporary criticism, including but not limited to semiotic analysis, psychoanalytic criticism, Ideologiekritik, and critical feminism.
Taught: Alternate years.
Prerequisites: COM 103 and COM 215, or permission of instructor.
Credit: 3 hours.
